City of San Pedro Souvenir Plate W1.33

$25.00

The port was discovered in 1542 by Juan Cabrillo, Portuguese explorer who sailed under the Spanish flag. First record of the Port for Commercial use was in 1805, when the "Leila Bird" from Boston anchored at Pt. Fermin to barter for hides, sugar, ect. Today it is one of the world's greatest harbors.
San Pedro is the home port of the United States Pacific Fleet, also the large tuna and sardine fishing fleets. In this year of 1942, seven major shipyards are operating full wartime capacity producing Liberty cargo and Naval ships.
