1873 South Lyon, Michigan Centennial 1973
South Lyon, Michigan was once known as Thompson's Corners. It is situated in the southern part of Lyon Township which was named for Lucius Lyon, a member of the Territorial Legislature. The settlement was incorporated as the village of South Lyon in 1873.
The change from an agricultural to an industrial community began in 1927 with the establishment of Seamless Steel Tubing now known as Michigan Seamless Tube Co.
The village was incorporated as a city in 1930. Today it has become an expanding, prosperous, suburban city.
